Our view. Kualoa Point is at upper left; far left is Coconut island.
Tiny Chinaman's Hat island is barely visible near the end of Kualoa point.
The boats of Kaneohe Bay Yacht Club are at center right. Near the horizon,
right, is Mokapu Point. We wake each day to a variation of this
view... |
Jack O'Neal's Watercolor of our house, painted before our Areca palms grew so high
that they shield the house from the street. This view could not be made
today. Palm fronds hide the stairs and part of the house. |
Aloha, Welcome to Katya and Ted's Home High Above Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii |
Kailua Beach, one of the world's ten best beaches, seen from the entrance to
Lani Kai, minutes from our house. The beach goes to the end of the crescent
at right rear. Lani Kai Beach is behnd the photographer. At low
tide, walk over rocks from Kailua Beach to Lani Kai Beach. Oahu has more
beaches than you will have time for--see link below. Surf boards, sail
boards, kite boards, boogie boards, kayaks can be rented here. Beach gear,
two boogie boards, and some snorkeling gear are stored at the house |

Our new kitchen as seen from the lanai. We eat most of our breakfasts here
or on the lanai since we remodeled in 2002. |

An early morning morning panorama from our deck, facing north. Once again,
you see the KBay Yacht Club, Coconut Island on the left, Kualoa Point in the background,
and Makapu Point near the horizon. Our deck circles the house.
A gas grill waits on the back deck. A redwood table is hinged to the
front deck rail for sitting and snacking, eating breakfast, lunch or dinner as
you chat and comment on the boats on the Bay and watch the clouds drift across
the horizon. Some visitors never leave the deck, it's that pleasureable.

What Others Think of Our Home: The Bakers, Sedona, AZ . . . 10 September 2000: We have enjoyed our stay at your home in the air. If we could only pack up the view and take it with us. . . . It's been a lovely two weeks in paradise on earth. The Hubers, Switzerland . . . 29 April 2001 Highlights: Diamond Head, breathtaking (in every respect), magnificent views of Waikiki . . . Senator Fong's Garden, beautiful flowers, interesting tour . . . View from your balcony, we called your house "The Tree House." Joan, Huntington Beach, CA . . . Dec 1996 / Jan 1997: Thank you for giving me the chance to experience this beautiful home and perfect setting. I have fallen in love with the Windward coast. |

The kitchen as seen from the dining room. All appliances are new in 2002.
This is Katya's pride and joy. She loves to cook. |
<Easy living. Our comfy living room As seen from our lanai. Our dining room, the window framed by philodendron vines. > |

Katya relaxes in our master bedroom. Another Master Bedroom, a duplicate of
this one but furnished differently. is directly below it. Each has a TV. |
More of What Others Think of Our Home: The Brandts, Amsterdam . . . July/August 1999: We all had a wonderful time. Anna hates to go back. This is the first time in her life she feels so good abroad. She is sure she will live here a few years of her life. The Westergaards, Copenhagen . . . June/July 1999: Sitting on the lanai, at the very end of the first home exchange of our lives. Did we love it? . . . We sure did. We have had three and a half wonderful weeks having fun in the ocean, relaxing ourselves, enjoying the fertile nature, the kindness of Hawaiian people, and your excellent house. The Mehuses, Oakland, CA . . . June 1998: What a neat exchange! T&K, your attention to detail, thoughtful, useful instructions and insightful suggestions make the visit special. . . . Your house is so comfort- able, spacious, open, and airy. The Hentschels, Antalya, Turkey . . . May 1995: Our hearts are heavy to leave your wonderful island and your magnificent house. We did most of the things in your very carefully written guide and more. |
Yet More of What Others Think of Our Home: The Millers, New York, NY . . . 13 April 2001 Beaches It's obviously impossible to go wrong here; the most challenging decision is which one to choose. . . . We love snorkeling in the Carib bean, but the sights here are incom- parable. Shark's Cove on the North Shore was absolutely amazing sea turtles, schools of thousands of brightly colored fish, not crowded, and comfortable swimming. And we all fell in love with the relaxing views from the lanai, as we're sure you will too. The Gygaxes, Lutry, Switzerland, July 1995: First of all, I'd like to tell you how beautifiul your home (and what it contains) is. Anyway, I don't want to go back to Switzerland now. I don't want to leave this place. (Please don't be afraid, I'm not hidden in one of your cupboards while you're reading this letter.) [Plus tons more in our guest book.] |
