"Any Shape" Cut-Out Pop-Up
![]() |
My holiday card sparked one question. "How did you get the Christmas tree cut out in the center of the card?" It's quite simple. The idea came from a card that is bought pre-cut with oval or heart shapes. Once you get the general instructions, you can take off and make a whole bunch of different shapes! |
| Take a note card and vertically score it
in fourths. The scored line in the middle will be the
center of the cut-out. Draw the desired cut-out shape
from the middle scored line and cut out. Be careful not
to draw your cut-out shape beyond the scored lines on the
left and right. Symmetrical shapes work best, but you
don't necessarily need to be limited to these types of
shapes. An exciting alternative to cutting the shape out
is to use decorative scissors. These add a flare to your
ordinary cut-outs. Stamp the card as desired. Take another note card vertically scored in half. Stamp as desired for the "background" scene. Fold along scored lines as shown. Mountain Fold where an "M" is shown and a Valley Fold where it is labeled "V." Double stick tape the far left rectangle of the "cut-out" note card to the left edge of the "background" note card. Repeat the process with the right edges. |
