FUKUOKA
PREFECTURE EXCHANGE CONCERT

On Tuesday,
August 22nd,
2007, the Roosevelt’s Chamber Orchestra hosted a cultural exchange with
students from the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan. Seven Japanese students
performed with the Chamber Orchestra from Roosevelt.
The music students from both
schools were given the unique opportunity to bond with students from
another country. They knew as much English as we knew Japanese
therefore there was a definite language barrier. However, we
communicated just fine with a series of hand motions, head nods and a
lot of bowing. We ended up having a lot of fun!
2009 ORCHESTRA TRIP
We will be
scheduling a trip meeting sometime in May or early June to give parents
an update and status of the trip. Currently, the dollar is taking
beating against the Euro and estimated cost will be extremely high for
Vienna. If parents and student still intend to pursue the trip, we
will do everything possible to make it a reality. We are also
looking at alternative venues that we may be able to do as well.
HASTA
PARADE OF ORCHESTRAS
Congratulations on all
three orchestras for their performance at the recent Parade of
Orchestras held at Pearl City High School on April 12. The Concert
Orchestra received and "Excellent" rating while the Chamber and Symphony
Orchestras received a "Superior" rating.
