Short history

OMRS was formed in late 1960. The layout consisted of modular layout sections that grew in number to approximately 24. Because no permanent home could be found, the modules were assembled and disassembled each meeting. Meeting places also came and went. In late 1955 an opportunity to obtain a permanent home at the HRS Railway Museum presented itself and the membership decided to move. Approximately 24 months were required to rebuild a steel framework tongue and groove WW II 36 foot Navy ammunition box car. We started an

the walls layout with lower level staging and reverse loop, main level dog bone loops and three three successive levels to a top level reversing loop.

Current Status and Objectives

Bench and track work is about 95 % complete, scenery is approximately 60% complete and structures about 50% complete. Track wiring with options for DCC or conventional power pack is installed as is turnout switching panels.
