Picnics are held several times a year to allow the Clinic members a chance to get together
in a more social setting. During the picnic, group leaders and members can mingle with
other groups that train at different paces. The setting is much more pleasant than the
huffing and puffing that takes place during a sweaty training run.
The Clinic members go out on their morning training runs and then come back to relax and
enjoy the comraderie of other runners.
The picnic setting is very casual and the weather is usually very cooperative in beautiful
Kapiolani Park. The serene scene sometimes degenerates into an impromptu line dance or into
the dreaded "Macarena".
Group leaders and recently graduated students show off their 1996 Honolulu Marathon
finisher's shirts
at the post marathon picnic held on the Sunday following the race. The picnic gives
everyone a chance to tell their favorite marathon stories and to make plans for the
next marathon.
