Executive Board member Peter Garcia takes the $1.00 boarding fee from the runners as
they prepare to depart from the Kapiolani Bandstand area for a Bus Run. Bus Runs are
used to relieve the monotony of constant out-and-back training runs and to give the runners
a preview of the Honolulu Marathon course at the further reaches of Hawaii Kai and
Kalanianiole Highway. These familiarization runs play a large part in easing the student's
anxiety factor toward the upcoming marathon.
This photo was taken of a Clinic bus run beginning from the new meeting location on Paki Avenue
in Kapiolani Park. Students are charged a $1.00 boarding fee to help offset the cost of the
bus rental.
At the Hawaii Kai boat harbor parking lot, the Clinic gang poses for a picture before heading
back to Kapiolani Park. The run back gives the students a chance to practice the actual
Honolulu Marathon route.
