Kyle Barrett joined DELTA GREEN by accident during field work for his Masters in Anthropology on the San Carlos Indian Reservation. He dismissed the events as a particularly degenerate serial killer's work, but the agents' dedication greatly impressed Kyle. Shortly after wards he joined the FBI. His keen people sense and powers of deduction made him a very competent agent. His future at the Bureau seemed bright. Then DELTA GREEN returned to his life.

Over the following three years, Kyle's hair prematurely went gray. Then the nightmares started. He began to avoid sleep, which worsened his temper. His supervisor sent him for a psychological evaluation. Kyle lied his way through it, and came out with only a slightly blemished record and prescription for sleeping pills. The former didn't really matter to him, but the latter really help. Kyle desperately wants out of DELTA GREEN, but knows that he can't quit. As miserable as the work makes him, he knows the American people couldn't handle the truth any better than he can.
