New Design & Poll:

Okay, starting off with the first day of September 2000, M68kG is now being redesigned for the first time from when it was first released in August 5, 1997. I don't know what the correlation between September 1, 2000 and the redesigning of M68kG is, but all I know is that it's now here and ready for your consumption. Technically complete, the new M68kG design you see here is just a test/prototype/template for a taste of what's to come. Please note that many of the links you see on the test design won't work because only the front page has been done. In honor of this showcase, a new poll has been created on the Main page as one means of expressing your opinions on the design and the recently introduced Mac 68k Gamers Board. The data gathered from this poll will be used in determining the future of the items being voted on, so everyone should participate for their vision of where M68kG stands as far as the items are a concern. If you have any problems, questions, or comments on the presented topics, please feel free to e-mail me at . I thank you for your continued support as M68kG's full potential is finally being realized.

Before I close this thought, please let me explain some features of the new M68kG design. One of the changes you may have noticed is the more simplistic, straightforward approach towards presenting the news and all the other various interactive content in a single page. Besides the new color scheme, this organization of material has been proven to reduce RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury), download times for modem users, and confusion amongst a group of beta testers :-) The new design is approximately 6KB in size, so that's an improvement of 5KB from the original 11KB Main page. Also shrunken down, the logo is now 1KB instead of the old 9KB logo you may've seen earlier on your way in. That's a total of 13KB saved from the first M68kG design, which equals to 4 1/3 seconds of browsing time if your rate was at a constant 3KB per second. Other then the things I've mentioned, the front page will also have a message board preview as you can see on the top right corner. I'm not sure if this is to be implemented into the final site, but if I find a way to broadcast messages in this fashion without much hassle, it will definitely be part of the golden master design. Some parts of the Main page have been removed, as well, to either unify the overall look, or will be included as a part of the new sections in the navigation bar above. Now, without further ado, I bring you Mac 68k Games version 2.0 alpha.

Testing, Testing:

Hey active members of the Mac 68k Gaming Community, I would like to introduce to you the potential replacement for the old message board that's now named, the Mac 68k Gamers Board. This is only a test to see if there are any compatibility problems on your side of the connection. If you find that this message board does not perform well on your system's configuration, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at . I already tested the message board on Netscape v3.04 Gold, and it seems to run accordingly as planned. There were no issues during my observation, but it's more helpful if the message board goes through a multitude of settings. Especially if you're the proud owner of the classics, I would definitely want feedback from those few who have access to the Internet. This doesn't mean that the current message board nor the new one will be overlooked, which basically boils down to the fact that both message boards will be in full operation beginning today. Judging upon your voice, I shall then determine the outcome of the message board, sink or sail. There may also be a poll on the Main page coming these next few weeks to help take in the load, and make it easier for people who don't have time to place their opinions. As always, you're replies, participation, and feedback are valuable toward advancing the interactive content of M68kG.

Quite a Turn Out!:

Wow, it has already been 6 months and a couple weeks since I last updated this News section. Time goes by really fast when you're not thinking about it, don't it? Well since then, I've been working diligently on "the Project", and it appears things are starting to finalize. Let's just say that this is one of those cases where nothing last forever. Anyways, the real intent of this sudden newscast was to welcome all you newcomers to M68kG (Mac 68k Games for short). I know of this because my handy-dandy fastcounter on the Main page has been catching a lot of unique IPs lately. In fact, there has been a record breaking first for M68kG, where people have been arriving in the thousands for these past few weeks. The usual outcome of a week on average is around the 500 area, but that has certainly changed now. As more and more of you arrive, we'll reach the 100,000 mark in no time! The funny thing is that I have no idea where you guys are coming from, so if you could e-mail me at , I'll be sure to let the webmaster of that web site know how I feel about this. Many thanks to whoever you are!

Now that I've covered that part of my agenda, I have a few things to describe to you. This being the new additions I've implemented into the web site for these past few months. Re-indexed and searchable, the search engine is now hosted by SearchButton.com, which is an excellent free web service, in my humble opinion. You don't have to readjust your searching techniques because it's practically the same as the one before but more up-to-date. Also redone are the sections in M68kG, which are totally free of advertisements, banners, or whatever you want to call them. The reason for this is because they were basically scams and there's nothing more to say about that. Lastly but significant, M68kG has a nice easy to remember URL, www.Mac68kGames.com, and I have an even prettier e-mail address, . Other cosmetic changes to M68kG are minor fixes like mini banner replacements, broken links, and etc. With that being said, I'll see you around the Mac community, and be sure to check out the newest member of the Mac 68k Gaming WebRing, Mac AbandonWare.
