Update: 10/19/98 @ 12:00 PM (Pacific Time)Thoughts on Food Chain:
-Cajun GAMESI've received a review copy of Food Chain, a strategy-board game based on the delicate balance of nature. For example, a creature that must eat another in order to survive. When I removed the CD from the package, I noticed that this game was pure commercial quality, CD cover and the works! Not like your usual shareware packaging or registration schemes. The suggested retail price is $14.95 for the full CD version which also includes 25 of their selected favorite shareware games! If you don't have that kind of cash or other obvious reasons, you can also download the trialware version available on their web site, unlockable for only $9.95! In transition, let's talk about the actual game play, graphics/animation, and etc. aspects of this great game, I'm not just sucking up either ;-)
Installation was a breeze, you just pop in the CD in your CD drive, and run the installer. Yes, it's that simple! By using the traditional double-click on the application, it got me into the game's splash screen mode. Just by judging on the animation of the introduction to the stars, I was convinced that this game had excellent detailed, smooth, and appropriate, graphic animation for the EVERYONE label rated by the ESRB. In addition, the tutorial was quick and informative with a visual and audio demonstration.
After the tutorial, I immediately started a new game because I was incredibly anxious for the actual game play. Running the game on a Performa 637CD, 68040/33MHz, 8 MB Physical RAM, was extremely fast considering the fact that the minimum processor requirement was exactly what I had. This proves that, some but not all, new commercial games can still adapt to low end Macs. Game play was quite addictive, and it also offered a easy to learn, but difficult to master atmosphere. In Conclusion, this game is a must buy for the gamer who wishes to have a challenge of earning the most points.
Note: Cajun GAMES will be frequently creating Food Chain High Score Contest at their web site which will give you the chance to display your achievement, and it will also give you the opportunity to win some great prizes! -More Info
