First Wednesday of the Month on June 4, 2008 Report
A visiting alumni Bill Andrews'75 from California stopped by to see if there were any alumni he knew and he found one, a fellow classmate Richard Nakanishi. Initially Bill was looking for a place to seat when Richard said, don't I know you. Bill asked if he was a Kubasaki grad and then all those memories from bygone days came back in flash. The Hawaii Dragons that were there to greet Bill were Gilbert Kaneshiro, Carlson Joy, Mike Connolly, Ricky Graves, Duane Souza, Wayne Tanigawa, Irene Ross, Robert Higa, Dan Norimoto, Rinsei Haimoto, and Tim Gilliland.
Two subjects on the agenda for that night were: the post-op of Rinsei's colonoscopy procedure and the upcoming 2009 Kubasaki Dragons Vegas Reunion. Everybody had a great laugh last month about Rinsei's procedure but other Hawaii Dragons wanted to continue that scenario. Bottom line was don't wait before it is too late.
Irene mentioned that there are folks who have already sent in their whole registration fee. Don't forget this early bird special will end August 31, 2008 so get your registration fee before then.
The next "First Wednesday of the Month" will be on July 2, 2008 at "New Nigori" starting at 7pm. A special guest, Ron Toyota'69 from Los Angeles will make his debut to New Nigori. That night will be a good time to kick off the Fourth of July celebration so don't forget to mark that date on your calendar.
First Wednesday of the Month on April 2, 2008 Report
There were some new and old faces that made their appearance to the "First Wednesday of the Month". For the new faces there were Betty Jameson'63, Gloria Kanada'71, and Romeo Miyazato'71-Oliveros. Some of the old faces were Ron Ajifu'64, and Grant Kagimoto'66. Gilbert Kaneshiro contacted Betty, Ron, and Grant to the get together at the "First Wednesday of the Month" at New Nigori. Gloria was found by Ada and Romeo met Rinsei Haimoto at a golf course. These new and old faces said they will try to make it more often to this event.
The "usual" Hawaii Dragons that made it to the First Wednesday of the Month at New Nigori were Gilbert Kaneshiro, Carlson Joy, Mike Connolly, Irene Ross, Robert Higa, Ada Masaki, Jesse Koike, Bobby Hirai, Rinsei Haimoto, Ken Asato, Eddie Yamauchi, Tim Gilliland, and Mike Danbara.
The major topic that affected everyone was the closures of Aloha and ATA Airlines this week. Irene was suppose to be off on Monday but had to work overtime that day and also Tuesday to accomodate the tourist traveling interisland. Some of Dragons had to find another airline for their upcoming trip to Vegas and mainland.

First Wednesday of the Month on February 6, 2008 Report
There were some sad faces and half empty wallets at New Nigori that night especially the ones that went to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl Weekend. Yea they all took the Patriots to win. Well at least they had fun winning at other games. There were two new Hawaii Dragons that made their debute, Mona Andow'76-Azumi and newly retired Mike Koroke'69 who worked in the Federal civil service sector in Korea. Mona works for the postal service and her mail routes are in Pearl City and Aiea. Honk your horn next time when you see her delivering the mail. As for Mike, he plans to travel around the world for a few months before settling down in Hawaii. Oh yea he plans to work on his golf game when he gets back from his worldwind travels.

Irene mentioned to a few of the Dragons that the 2009 Kubasaki Vegas Reunion coordination is going smoothly. Irene said that the upcoming 2009 Vegas Reunion will be more fun than the 2007 Reunion. Everyone that night at Nigori are getting excited about the reunion. What's more exciting is that there are a bunch of Dragons that want to pay their registration fee already. These folks are the "die-hard" party animals!!!!

First Wednesday of the Month on January 9, 2008 Report
The get together was actually held on the "Second Wednesday of the Month", so attendees could be fully recovered from all the New Year's Eve parties. Most of them looked like they need more than a week to recover. There were some unexpected alumni from the mainland. The "visiting alumni" were Marie McConnell-Reichelt and Cathy Ainsworth-Hughson both of them from class of '67. Marie from Southern California with her friend and Cathy from Seattle, WA with her spouse were in Honolulu for a winter vacation.
Marie found out about the "First Wednesday of the Month" event thru her friend who was in the restroom of Turtle Bay Hotel. By the luck of the draw, Stuart was also in the restroom and somehow they started a conversation. They soon found out that their lady friends came from the same high school, Kubasaki. Later Stuart mentioned to Marie about coming down to New Nigori. The moral of this story is you never know who you meet in the restroom.
As for Cathy, her younger brother worked with Manuel years ago here in Honolulu. Brother and Manuel stayed in touched and when Cathy came to town, she called up Manuel who said to come to Nigori for the "First Wednesday of the Month" event. Manuel told Rinsei at Nigori that a "long lost" friend will be coming to Nigori but wouldn't say who. When Cathy came into Nigori and was introduced by Manuel to all the Hawaii Dragons, Rinsei was totally surprise and shock to see her. They haven't seen each other for over 40 years.

Everyone looked the same and health wise expect for a few age creeping symptoms.

First Wednesday of the Month on November 7, 2007 Report
There were some unexpected visitors from the mainland or faraway land in attendance. The "world traveler", Ron Thomas and businessman Arthur Yoshinaga made their presence. Also local Dragons - Richard Varble, Kenji Kaneshiro, and Mike Danbara were there to toast a few rounds.
Anyway the "usual" Hawaii Dragons that made it to the First Wednesday of the Month at New Nigori, were Wayne Tanigawa, Ricky Graves, Carlson Joy, Gilbert Kaneshiro, Duane Souza, Irene Ross, Robert Higa, Jesse Koike, Bobby Hirai, Rinsei Haimoto, Gordon Medeiros, Ada Masaki, and Richard Nakanishi.
First thing on the agenda for everyone were the delicious pupu and refreshments which were brought to the tables by our personal hostess. Then when everybody was warmed up, the karaoke machine kicked into high gear.
The "reunion" couple wouldn't deny or confirm those uncontrollable rumors about a "2009 Vegas Reunion". Now it is only a rumor but unofficially rumors are flying that Planet Hollywood maybe holding another Kubasaki reunion in 2009. Just stay tuned to this station for any updates or rumors.
The next "First Wednesday of the Month" will be on March 5, 2008 at "New Nigori" starting at 7pm. There are always some special guests from somewhere to party with the Hawaii Dragons so don't forget to mark that date on your calendar.
New Nigori is "one of the Seven Wonders of the World" for all Kubasaki Dragons to visit.
