" Wherefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God," Hebrews 6:1
God tells us that there are first principles that have to be learned and practiced before we are able to "press on to perfection". Dead works are the result of not knowing or caring what God wants of us. We have to know these principles to be able to obey God and have hope of salvation. We can only get this information from the New Testament which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ
This gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). Therefore, its teachings are vitally important to our eternal well-being. It is the source of God-given truths by which we must learn and live our lives.
"Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
These First Principles are brief summaries of critical Bible doctrines. If there is a teaching from the Bible which you would like to see included here, or if you have a Bible question, please let us know.
