I am an HIV/AIDS Specialist, Certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine and a Board Certified Family Practice Physician now working as the Director of HIV Services for a large multi-specialty group practice in Hawaii. I sold my solo private practice in Denver, Colorado in 1992 to move to Hawaii. I graduated from University of Denver, Denver, Colorado with a B.S. in Zoology and received my M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana. I did my family practice residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
I am
a member of the Hawaii HIV/AIDS Physician's Consortium and the International
Association of Physicians in AIDS Care. I am medical directof of AIDS
Education Project. I am also a member of the
Hawaii Academy of Family Physicians and am twice past President of the Hawaii
Academy of Family Physicians. I am a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians,
the Hawaii Medical Association and I am a member of the American Medical
Association. I do some
teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. I am on the faculty
of the John A. Burns School of Medicine of the University of Hawaii
as well as the Keck School of Medicine of the University of
Southern California. I also teach and lecture on all aspects of HIV/AIDS care worldwide. I care for
many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and have the largest
HIV/AIDS practice (500 patients) in the state of Hawaii. I have over 27 years experience
in HIV care and have done and continue to do research in HIV disease.
I have many published journal articles on all aspects of HIV care. I have cared for HIV/AIDS patients since the beginning of the epidemic.
I am on the Board of the American Academy of HIV Medicine and have served on the
boards of a number of AIDS service organizations.
In addition, I am an ordained Episcopal/Orthodox Archpriest with a Master of Divinity degree. I am active in liturgical, pastoral and healing ministry especially to the gay, lesbian and transgender community and to those persons living with HIV/AIDS. I lecture and teach worldwide on the spiritual aspects of HIV and chronic illness. I am available for blessing of same sex unions and weddings as my time permits.
