Be a RESPONSIBLE DIVER....

In a recent *ALERT DIVER publication Bill Clendenen, Director, of DAN Training, spelled out seven goals of a RESPONSIBLE DIVER. They, like my 10 COMMANDMENTS of the DIVER, are worth reading over - every now and then. Here's Bill's points... read them carefully, then USE THEM, on every dive, okay?

  1. I will dive within the limits of my training and ability.

  2. I will evaluate the conditions before every dive and make sure they fit my personal capabilities.

  3. I will be familiar with and check my equipment before and during every dive.

  4. I will respect the buddy system and its advantages.

  5. I will accept responsibility for my own safety on every dive.

  6. I will be environmentally conscious on every dive.

  7. I will be responsible to myself, the people I dive with and the environment.

If you note a resemblance of these seven points and my "10 Commandments of the Diver", it should be no surprise. Bill and I are responsible divers. You should be, too. It doesn't hurt - and darn sure might help. If you are not a responsible diver - don't dive. It's as simple as that.
