2 Best Cellar – excellent fine dining!
3 Crippens – excellent fine dining!
4 Storie Street Grill – excellent for both lunch and dinner.
5 Woodlands Barbeque – excellent barbeque joint. Unfortunately they allow smoking on the main floor and this is where the action is. The non-smoking section is downstairs and has absolutely no atmosphere. Try to go when Gene Goforth is playing!
6 Twigs – excellent fine dining!
7 Mountain House Restaurant in Boone – excellent diner with lots of fresh vegetables. Very inexpensive and my wife’s favorite place for everyday food. Good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their fried fish is better than most fish houses. Go into Boone and turn left into the small strip at the very first stop light.

We’ve left a booklet in the living room that has favorite menus from many area restaurants from 2003-2004. I hope it is still here.
